Course Description

Course attendees will present an inspiring business case that demonstrates procurement decisions for a solar system. The ease of creating these reports will empower attendees with the ability to launch and deliver the massive uptake of renewable energy within your organisation. To overcome the problem of objections or questions raised by other stakeholders in an organisation attendees will be taught influential leadership skills and knowledge of all scientific calculations used. Ultimately, each attendee's organisation will be rewarded with the lucrative financial benefits associated with solar investment including reduced electricity expenses and increased brand value. As an attendee who puts this course work into practice you will be treated with admiration and respect for bringing about these positive changes that benefit both the environment and your organisation's finances.

The course content shows how to increase the financial value of a solar design by optimising the array size, orientation and tilt. This is achieved by using an Excel spreadsheet known as Auxin S4. The methodology involves comparing the site load profile to the solar generation profile as recommended in section 9.1 of the Clean Energy Council’s 30 –100 KW Design Guidelines. Throughout the course you will benefit from both practical and theoretical approaches and assessments that draw on real life scenarios.

Skills You’ll Walk Away With

Through this course you will walk away with the ability to:

  • Calculate the angle between the sun's position and a fixed solar array at a certain location and time of the day.
  • Optimize solar system design parameters by system size, tilt, and orientation with the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Have a basic understanding of the programming language Visual Basic for Applications.
  • Read Discounted Cash Flow models in Excel.
